Why every Parent Needs Portraits of their Performing Artist

I create visual narratives that convey

Photographing Passion & Honoring Your Performing Artist

If you’ve ever had a child who has performed in a school play or sang in a choir you may be familiar with their innocent sense of eager hope that their family and friends will be in the audience. Unlike sports, where there are winners and not winners, performing artists do it because of passion but mostly they do it for the audience.

Their art, their performances, are created to be seen.

In our small town of Hollister, where the arts thrive, there's a unique way to celebrate the performing arts that goes beyond the stage. I’m talking about the art of visual storytelling and photography. Memorializing our children's passions through portraiture is an extension of the way we honor and celebrate their love for their art.

The Intersection of Passion and Photography

Performing arts are not just an activity; they are an expression of the soul, a celebration of individuality, and a testament to the dedication of those who pursue their artistic dreams. Both as a parent of a dancer and an admirer of the art, I have come to understand the profound and long lasting impact a portrait of yourself in pursuit of your passion can have.

Dance, theater, music – these are not just pastimes; they are avenues of self-discovery and growth. Photography of your performing artist is a way for families to relive their child’s most special memories and honor their passions.

Photographing Dancers has Taught me

As a photographer who has worked with dancers, I have come to understand the nuances of movement, expression, and the overall perfection the dancers strive for.

My aim is to create visual narratives that convey the energy and emotion embedded in each pose or theatrical expression.

Honoring the Individual Journey

Every artist brings their own perspective and experience to their performance. Each child's passion is unique, and I work to capture the unique talent and skill of that individual.

Whether it's the grace of a ballet dancer, the attitude of a hip-hop artist, or the storytelling talent of an actor, portraits can become more than just images. They become windows into the soul of the performer, showcasing the dedication and love they put into their art.

A Visual Commemoration

Generally, kids whose passions are in the visual arts don’t get a whole lot of keepsakes. There aren’t trophies for piano recitals or medals for a vocal winter concert. Portraits are, however, can become a visual commemoration of their efforts in performing arts. Framed on walls or cherished in photo albums, these images serve as reminders of the courage it takes to pursue their passion and the joy that comes from expressing themselves through the arts.

If you have a performing artist in your life, and you’d like to honor them by remembering this time in their life with the portrait, please reach out. Send me an email. I’d love to work together to create something of significance to honor their talents.
