How Bringing A Friend Elevates Your Grad’s Senior Portrait Experience
Senior portraits are as much about
making memories
as they are about making
something to remember.
Senior Portraits with a Friend
Senior year is really a tremendous time filled with milestones and memories that mark the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Even with all that is happening, senior portrait sessions still stand out as one of the truly best ways to document this time in your grad’s life.
And while I agree, it is most common to go solo for senior portrait sessions, I don’t do one-size fits all sessions. Is your graduate someone who is always with their best friend? Imagine if this friend was not only encouraged to keep your senior company at their portrait session but also took part in it?
So many reasons to have your senior bring a good friend:
For the same reason, we want to walk into a party with a friend rather than alone. A best friend at a portrait session can help make someone feel more comfortable from the get go. Especially, when doing something like being in front of a camera, having someone you know so well might help your grad feel more relaxed and as a result, more themselves.
Friends know how to get us to laugh. They, like parents, have inside jokes and shared moments that can quickly lead to real expressions and authentic photos of their friendship.
Standing side by side with a friend in front of the camera, can not only help ease nerves but also is just one more moment that these friends can share together in this last year of high school. Whether your grad is feeling unsure, nervous, excited or eager they will have their friend to lean on through it all.
Senior portraits are as much about making memories as they are about making something to remember. I intentionally create a custom experience that is designed for your seniors to feel the momentousness of this time in their lives. Sharing such a special occasion with a supportive and positive friend can only add to this experience.
Encouraging your senior to bring a friend for either their whole portrait session or just a part of it can make the entire experience more fun and memorable for your graduate. Whether it's getting ready or coming up with a creative idea for their portrait, having a friend to share the experience with deepens the meaning of the experience and therefore the images. Ask your grad if this is something that might make the session more meaningful to them. Send me an email. I’d love to work together to create something of significance to honor their friendships.
The studio is a blank canvas that gives your senior the space to
create portraits that mean something.
