Framed Children’s Portraits

Creating a home that celebrates moments in your children’s lives can be done in so many ways. From family traditions to just spending time together, there are oodles of ways to show that we value our children’s uniqueness and this time in their lives. There are, however, not as many ways in which we keep a visual record of their stories. One of the easiest ways to keep their childhood and their stories a part of our daily lives is through pictures hanging in your home. Thoughtfully framed portraits can turn your living space into a gallery of love and joy. Children who grow up with pictures of themselves in your home can feel seen and valued.

But sometimes a project like deciding what to display and how to display it can cause us to put off what should be as simple as choosing your favorite portrait and hanging it.

To help spark your imagination and share some possible ways you can create little spaces in your home that show the best pictures of your kids - here are five creative ideas for showcasing your child's portraits in a way that adds warmth and personality to your home.

  1. Elegant Framing:

Choose classic frames that complement your home decor to give your child's printed portraits a timeless and sophisticated look. Opt for a uniform frame style and color for a cohesive display, or mix and match frames to add a touch of eclectic charm. Consider creating a dedicated gallery wall with a carefully curated selection of portraits that tell the story of your child's growth and milestones.

2. Include personalized work:

Transform a blank wall into a heartwarming source of memories by arranging a collection of printed portraits in a creative and artistic manner. Mix in other sentimental items like handwritten notes, artwork, or mementos to show a deeper sense of who your child is/was at this particular time in their life.

3. Personalized Photo Albums:

Compile a series of photo albums dedicated to different stages of your child's life. These albums serve as a tangible timeline, allowing you to flip through pages and reminisce about precious moments. Choose high-quality albums with customizable covers to add a personal touch. Keep these albums on a prominent shelf or coffee table for easy access and a constant reminder of the beautiful memories you've created together.

4. Floating Shelves with Decorative Accents:

Install floating shelves in key areas of your home and adorn them with your child's printed portraits alongside decorative accents. Mix in small potted plants, figurines, or personalized trinkets to create a visually appealing and dynamic display. This approach not only showcases your child's portraits but also adds a touch of your family's personality to the decor. I personally love floating shelves. I have two in my studio and they were the perfect custom solution to showing some of my favorite mounted portraits.

5. Art light:

Using art lights above any portraits brings attention and focus to a portrait.  When creating gallery style space in your home adding art lights brings an element of sophistication to the look of your home. making your home feel cozier and more stylish.

Displaying your child's photos at home not only adds a personal touch to your space but also serves as a constant reminder of the joy and love your little one brings into your life.  Whether you opt for classic framing, memory wall collages, personalized albums, floating shelves, or adding art lights, each idea adds a unique touch to your home decor. Choose the approach that resonates with your style and creates a warm, inviting space filled with the story of your kid’s childhood.
