Which is best for you?

More often than not, way before a handshake, people often meet online. A quick Google or Instagram search and people can get a pretty good idea who we are and what we’re about. When you are trying to decide what kind of digital first impression to make knowing whether a headshot or a personal branding session is best for you.

The easiest way to decide whether you need a headshot or branding session is to figure out what your images are going to be used for.

Headshots

A headshot is essentially a head and shoulders picture.  This type of portrait session is designed to create a series of images to be used in professional settings. Poses are typically straightforward.

I use my head shots in my email signature and for my profile pictures on social media. They are also commonly used on business cards, billboards, websites or other marketing that needs one hero image.

If you only have one image to present yourself as a professional that people should work with then make it the best image possible!

Personal Branding

With more and more clients looking for services and products online, telling your business story and communicating your whole story with your audience is a great way to show people a more multifaceted version of your business and services.

Beyond showing your face, professional, personal branding photos can tell people more about who you are and the type of work that you do. They can also show stylized different sides of your personality. Are you a Dentist who also loves interior design? Are you a physician and a mother? Or like me, a photographer who loves music?

Being photographed in your work setting or at a desk, or in a more casual way in your home can give potential clients a better idea of who you are than a head and shoulders headshot. Together, we can collaborate to create images that are more diverse than headshots.

A strong personal brand helps people get to know you.  So show them who you are so that they know who they can potentially be working with. With an additional variety of images, you can tailor the images you share about your brand based on the social media platform.

Your potential clients can see your strengths, your expertise and unique aspects about who you are. Most importantly, it can show what makes you the best person for them to work with. Give me a call and let’s decide what works best for you!
