Headshot Prep made  easy!

From social media platforms to marketing materials, your headshot can be the first way clients come across you and the services you provide.   Being prepared for your session can not only help the session go more smoothly but I promise will also help you feel more confident.

When getting ready for your headshot session, I suggest choosing several outfits to be photographed in. We will review all this in your style consultation. In general, clothing choices should match the type of setting that you will be photographed in AND one of those outfits will ideally include your typical professional attire (e.g., scrubs, lab coat, black suit coat etc.)

Avoid busy patterns that can distract from your portrait. Consider wearing neutrals and mixing things up by wearing varying textures.  The same is true for accessories. A statement necklace works well if that is your signature style. Subtle jewelry choices are timeless.

  • Clean and press clothing at least three days before your appointment. Having one less thing to worry about the day of your session will be one less thing to worry about.

  • Don’t forget to pack those matching undergarments. Any shape wear, or strapless garments can be packed ahead of time so they are not forgotten.

  • Plan on a hairstyle that you know works well for you. Trying a new hairstyle or color for your headshot session can result in us creating images that don’t feel like you.

  • The same is true for spray tans. If this is not a regular part of your beauty routine avoid getting one a week before your session.

  • This may be the perfect excuse to pamper yourself and treat yourself to a manicure so that you're feeling really great from head to toe!

  • Make sure to make a good night’s sleep a high priority the night before your session. Positive energy can really make your photos the best.

  • Don't forget to stay hydrated! Sip on some water the day before your session to keep your skin glowing and your energy up.

I'm not much of a planner myself, so I totally get it! Download your checklist here to keep things stress-free.
