The MOST Important Thing To Do In Your Photography Session To Get Great Photos

I want you, and your kids especially, to remember that taking pictures as something fun that they will look forward to the next time they hear we are meeting up.

So here’s the truth. There are a fair amount of decisions that go into planning a photography session. What to wear? When to meet? It’s a little work. But the good thing is that by the time we meet, we’ve done all the heavy lifting, so to speak.

The most important thing I want to tell you about the time we spend together is not “be yourself” or ”just pretend the camera isn’t there,” but that our photography session is essentially family time. Take this time to be extra affectionate with your loves. If you normally hold hands, reach out to each other. If you tend to carry your kids, don’t hesitate to pick them up and squeeze them tight. If the kids get distracted by a rabbit or some beautiful horses passing by, let them! Go ahead and lean into each other a little more. All of those sweet things that we sometimes get too busy to do - that’s your “to do” list when we are together during a session.

At the end of our session, my goal is for everyone to have had a good time. I want you, and your kids especially, to remember that taking pictures as something fun that they will look forward to the next time they hear we are meeting up!
