Step 4: What Will Happen During My Photography Session
The clothes are all set out and ready. You’ve gotten (or at the very least tried to) get a good night’s sleep and you're ready to meet with me today.
It’s the day of your photo session. The day we've been planning and prepping for is finally here!
We Start With a Pose
To get started I will give you some guidance as to where to sit/stand so that you don’t feel like you're standing there without a place to put your hands.
These poses are starting points for your session. You are encouraged to naturally interact with your family. This means giving your family extra hugs and kisses. Reach out a little extra and be a little more affectionate.
But not every family naturally becomes affectionate in front of the camera - that’s okay! If you’re feeling unsure of where exactly to be, I will keep posing you throughout your session.
Changing poses helps you give a better variety of images to choose from in the end. Also, changing poses will help you get into the comfortable ones.
And you know, sometimes it’s just more comfy to sit with the kids on your lap. It’s likely that we’ll use stools or a bench as a place for your family to get cuddly.
Your Session Review
And in case you’re wondering if you will see any sneak peeks the day of our session, the answer is most likely not.
I don’t generally stop to show you a look behind the camera because it can really interrupt our flow. Sometimes there might be someone in the family, like a toddler that takes a few photos and is done. To be sure that we got that one GREAT family photo we were hoping for, I will absolutely show you some before we end so that we can decide if we should spend some time focusing on making more of that grouping.
As we are working together, I’ll check in with you about your children's energy level. As we are going along through our sessions we may take a break for water or kind reset ourselves. This is especially true when there are little kids,
When we have gotten everything you are wanting I will let you know and ask if there is anything else you want before we finish.
Annual school portraits are a tradition that really highlight your child’s growth year after year. But instead of letting them gather dust in a drawer, why not display them in an intentional and meaningful way?
